March Fong Eu

March Fong Eu

Fong Eu was the first Asian American woman elected to the California State Legislature, where she served from 1966 to 1974.

Wilma Chan

Wilma Chan

Chan served in the California State Assembly from 2000 to 2006. She was the first woman and the first Asian American to serve as Assembly Majority Leader from 2002 to 2004.

Judy Chu

Judy Chu

Chu served in the California State Assembly from 2001 to 2006. She is the first Chinese American Woman elected to Congress and currently chairs the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus.

Fiona Ma

Fiona Ma

Ma served in the California State Assembly from 2006 to 2012. Ma served as Speaker Pro Tempore from 2010 to 2012. She currently serves as California's first woman of color State Treasurer.

Mary Hayashi

Mary Hayashi

Hayashi served in the California State Assembly from 2006 to 2012. She served as Assistant Majority Whip during her term.

Mariko Yamada

Mariko Yamada

Yamada served in the California State Assembly from 2008 to 2014. During her time, she served as Chair of Assembly Aging and Long Term Care Committee for 5 years. Yamada was the last API woman to win an election to the State Legislature.

Carol Liu

Carol Liu

Liu served in the California State Assembly from 2000 to 2006 and California State Senate from 2008 to 2016. She was the first Asian American woman to be elected to the California State Senate. Since her term out, there hasn't been an API Dem woman legislator elected to California State Legislature.
